The Shamanic Call
Three years ago, Heather visited the Mongolia steppes and found a profound connection to the land and the Shamans that still practice there.
She found that this country was rich with purpose, ceremony and connection, deepened Heather's Shamanism, her guides and many shamans still practising there. Her life-changing experience left such an imprint on her that it has permeated through all of The Ankara Academy's offerings, we are offering this life changing experience in this 2024 tour! The land will bring a state of awe, the medicine will bring physical and spiritual healing, and the experience will act like an initiation into a greater sense of purpose. Whether you're a practising shaman, a student or just curious about this ancient spiritual framework, this tour will awaken your mind and stir your soul.
AN OVERVIEW OF YOUR JOURNEY
ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar (May 27th)
- Arrival: Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to your hotel.
- Free Time: Relax and explore the city at your leisure.
- Preparation: Mini workshop in Sukhbaatar Sqaure with team leaders
- Dinner together at local hot pot restaurant
- Accommodation: HOTEL 9
Day 2: Tibetan Buddhist Monastery and Shaman Visit (May 28th)

Morning: Visit Gandan Monastery in the city.

Midday: Explore other significant Buddhist sites in Ulaanbaatar, such as the Choijin Lama Temple.

Lunch in the city

Afternoon: Meet with the Reindeer Shaman Lady in the city and receive a 1:1 divination reading (with a translator)

Accommodation: Hotel 9
**If we have more than 15 people, we will skip the monastery**
Day 3: Altanbulag - Travel to our new nomadic home (May 29th)
- Morning: Start your journey from Ulaanbaatar to Altanbulag.
- Lunch: At a nomadic family's home, learn about their daily life and animal herding.
- Afternoon: Integrate session with reindeer shaman
- Evening: Dinner with nomad family
Day 4: Consultation With our Shaman (May 30th)
- Our shaman will meet with each participant for a divination reading and consultation about their journey.
- We will be guided to make offerings at night with our shaman leader.
Day 5: Fire Ceremony & Possession Ceremony (May 31st)
- Morning: Before breakfast, perform an Offering to Land and Water Spirits ritual with Anarshi shaman (in silence)
- Breakfast served with nomad family
- After Breakfast: Prepare for Fire Ceremony - prepare silks, meat, offerings for fire
- Continue on for Possession Ceremony with Shaman
- Evening: Dinner with group and individual integration
Day 6: Integration Day with Anarshi (June 1st)
- Morning: After breakfast, opportunity to talk with Anarshi shaman 1:1 to integrate ceremony
- Evening: Enjoy a hearty dinner and relax in a ger camp.
Day 7: Shamanic Workshops (June 2nd)

Morning to Evening: Teachings about how to make offerings to the Tengri and 4 directions. Learn 3 styles of Mongolian divination using ankle bones, coins and gemstones.
Day 8: Terelj National Park & Eagle Master (June 3rd)
- Morning: Drive to Terelj National Park, known for its dramatic landscapes and wildlife.
- Lunch at our ger camp and time to explore the unique mountains and rest.
- Evening: Connect over a group dinner and visit sacred shaman site close to ger camp.
Day 9: Terelj National Park (June 4th)
- After breakfast - we drive to a buddhist monastry nestled in the rock mountains.
- Hike up the mountain and climb the 108 steps to the temple.
- Spend some time meditating in the temple and receiving visions from your guides and making offerings.
- Evening: Group dinner at ger camp
Day 10: Visit the Black Market in the City (June 5th)
- After breakfast, we drive back to the city and visit the black market to buy shamanic tools and souvenirs.
- Check in to Hotel 9 before attending a Folk Concert of traditional instruments and throat sining.
- Our last dinner together in the city.
- Overnight at Hotel 9.
Day 11: Departure (June 6th)

Sacred Experiences
We will be joined by an experienced Shaman who will perform a traditional ceremony for each individual. You will each get a chance to work directly with the Shaman's Tengri (or spirit guides) to ask for guidance, blessings and change in your life.
We will also have time to spend with our english speaking Shaman, to ask him questions about his practices and modern day methods of serving his community.
Upon attending the Shaman Festival, we will see hundreds of registered Shamans from Mongolia and across the world in full costume! There will be demonstrations all day as well as markets, tools and opportunities to meet local Shamans.
